For the dough:

    85 g
  • Sugar
    100 g
  • Chicken egg
    2 pc
  • Vanilla Extract
    1 tsp
  • Milk Căsuța Mea 3,5%
    1 tbsp
  • Flour
    125 g
  • Maple syrup
    4 tbsp

Directions

  1. In a pan, melt the butter over low heat. Add the apples, brown sugar, cinnamon, and lemon juice. Increase the heat to medium and cook for about 15 minutes, until the apples soften and become lightly caramelized. Stir occasionally.
  2. In a bowl, mix the softened butter with the sugar until you get a creamy texture. Add the eggs one at a time, stirring well after each addition. Incorporate the vanilla, then add the flour alternately with the milk. Stir until smooth.
  3. Transfer the apples along with the syrup formed into a tray lined with parchment paper.
  4. Pour the batter on top and gently level it. Optional: sprinkle almond flakes and a little brown sugar for a crunchy effect.
  5. Bake in the preheated oven at 180°C for 30 minutes.
  6. Take the cake out of the oven, gently poke it with a toothpick, and evenly pour 2–3 tablespoons of maple syrup over it. Let it absorb the syrup for 10 minutes before serving.
  7. Serve the sponge cake warm or at room temperature, alongside vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, or extra maple syrup. Enjoy!
