For the dough:

  • Chicken egg
    3 pc
  • Sugar
    80 g
  • Milk Căsuța Mea 3,5%
    200 ml
  • Flour
    250 g
  • Baking powder
    5 g
  • Vanilla
    0,5 g
  • Salt
    1 g

For the filling:

  • Apples
    700 g
  • Sugar
    80 g
  • Cinnamon
    1 tsp
  • Water
    100 ml
  • Lemon Juice
    1/2 pc
  • Cornstarch
    1 tsp

Directions

  1. Filling preparation: Place the peeled and diced apples in a saucepan together with sugar, cinnamon, lemon juice and water.
  2. Cook over medium heat for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  3. Add the dissolved starch and cook for another 1 minute, until slightly thickened. Set aside.
  4. Batter preparation: Beat the eggs with sugar until light and fluffy.
  5. Add the milk and mix well. Incorporate the sifted flour, baking powder, vanilla and salt. Mix until you obtain a smooth, lump-free batter.
  6. Preheat the oven to 170°C. Spread the caramelized apples in a large baking dish or individual molds and level evenly.
  7. Pour the batter on top. Bake for about 20 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  8. Remove from the oven, let rest for 5 minutes and serve, ideally with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Enjoy!
