Mushrooms are usually white or gray in color with a massive round cap that opens as the mushroom grows. The largest mushrooms are called portobello. Button mushrooms contain easily digestible proteins, almost 20 essential amino acids, vitamins B, D, E, PP, potassium, calcium, zinc, selenium, copper and manganese, iron, phosphorus. These mushrooms are most commonly used in cooking. They can be eaten even raw, boiled, fried, stewed, baked in the oven or grilled. Button mushrooms are used to prepare delicious salads, appetizers, soups, julienne, pates, side dishes, mushroom sauces for pasta. They make fillings for pies, pasties, pancakes, stew with other vegetables, add to pizza. Often, mushroom caps are stuffed. To keep mushrooms fresh longer, it is not recommended to wash them. An average button mushroom weighs 25 grams.
