Directions

  1. For the dough, mix: eggs with salt, oil and water. Add the flour, mix and knead for 10 minutes. Cover with plastic wrap and let it rise for 1 hour.
  2. For the filling, mix: chopped walnuts with sugar.
  3. Divide the dough into 4 equal pieces, shape them into small balls, and roll each ball out very thinly on a work surface sprinkled with potato starch.
  4. Brush each sheet of dough with melted butter. Sprinkle it with the prepared filling and roll it up.
  5. Cut slices 2 cm thick, transfer them into a baking dish, brush with the remaining butter, and bake for 30 minutes at 180 °C.
  6. For the syrup, mix all the ingredients and boil for 15 minutes on high heat. Pour the hot syrup over the baklava, let it sit for 1-2 hours.
  7. Sprinkle with chopped pistachios and let it soak for 4-6 hours. Enjoy!
